Hello, old friend. :)
A little over six months ago, right when I took a temporary break from writing about things that delight me, I had moved into a new house. Changed my turtle shell, if you will. One day I’ll get around to introducing my spanking room to the world, but for now you’ll have to trust me when I say the walls are naked. Perhaps from a few yonks ago you may remember poster-plastered walls, followed by bare walls and finally a singular portrait of Kevin (thanks to a good chum, River!). I’ve decided to create ‘Project Wallspace’ as a goal to make sure these walls are dressed to impress.
I have a few prints, comic books and misc items that I’ve been collecting over the last six months which will hopefully make an appearance later on.
But for tonight I shall let you know of the delightful contributions I’ve already made to Project Wallspace. ;)
There’s no real criteria for how I’m choosing the little friends that are to be a part of Project Wallspace. I’m looking for things that will always make me chuckle or smile at the end of a hard day or show visitors to my realm who I may be. They could also be completely stupid and nonsensical.
The first bought candidate hails from a little show that I had thoroughly enjoyed watching over the last few years. It recently wrapped up with an ending that was nothing less than horrific (for me :( ). Nevertheless I still love the first three seasons to death, particularly the one about the pineapple.
How I Met Your Mother by Jon Marro
I first came across this print through following Josh Radnor’s (our beloved Ted) tweets. He saw this print and personally supported it until it was available for print and purchase. This little number was out of my price range as I really don’t have a budget for this at all. But it was limited and it just captures the sentiments from the past nine years so perfectly. Did I also mention that it’s autographed by Jon and Josh themselves? Not that the latter is the most appealing factor, but it’s definitely a perk. The print is also larger than the average size (it’s 46x61cm) I want my prints to be, but I guess you gotta break the rules at some point. Even when it’s just the first go. I don’t believe it’s available anymore (I had to purchase mine from the UK’s distributor which stopped taking orders on the 26th), but if you want to take a look at the details you can find it at Acme Archives Direct.
Avocuddle by kittenese
Avocuddle, anyone?
This print is by the Australian Etsy shop ‘kittenese‘, which specialises in out-of-the-norm and cheeky cards for Valentine’s, besties, etc. I can’t remember where I first came across these but it was definitely around the festivities of Valentine’s Day and I thought they were absolutely hilarious. Some of them cruder than others, but the Avocuddle is just too cute to not have in Wallspace. But when I had come across this fantastic illustration, prints were not available. I was quick to make an enquiry as I finally decided on the go ahead with Wallspace and, thankfully, the shop owner also thought it was a good idea. Also the price is brilliantly affordable. The size is smaller than the HIMYM print as it’s an A4, so yay for diversity. The damn pendants are also are charmer. Must. Resist. Somehow.
First two members of the Wallspace family are pretty awesome, don’t you think? Well I think so.
The next ones I’ve been eyeing for a good while but haven’t really made a choice yet. I’ll probably sit on it for a few more months before taking the plunge. This is all very serious business.
Walter White’s Wardrobe
I think I saw these early last year and I was absolutely blown away by it. I love Breaking Bad — probably not your extreme enthusiast. I think it would be totally neat to have this detail in a series of prints though. Nathan has the entire wardrobe collection in one print, but I’m seriously considering purchasing the prints season by season in the smallest sizes to lay them out on the wall as a series as well. This one is a strong contender, but just gotta find the moolah and mood to make it happen.
Flying Mouse 365
What’s a wallspace without superheroes? I love most of FlyingMouse365’s prints. They’ve just got that chuckle factor. There’s just so much choice and the price makes me scrunch up my nose a little bit. My two favourites so far are featured above. My only qualms with the one below is that it’s all good and Marvel until you get to Superman. I wish they made the differentiation. Alternatively I would buy a print in a heartbeat if it solely featured the literal “Iron Man”. I think that print alone would be pretty awesome. But you can’t have everything, right? So this one is still up in the air. I might actually try and get my little hands on literal “Iron Man” somehow…
That’s all from me tonight, folks! See you again when I have my next procrastination session paired with a sudden motivation to vomit my thoughts onto the internet.
Tata.
